Climbing guide, photographer, and environmental economist, Matthew Fienup founded Earthworks following 12 years of institutional climbing experience and seven years of training in the Visual Arts. Matthew is a member of the American Mountain Guides Association, the National Press Photographers Association, and 1% for the Planet. His education includes study at the University of Michigan School of Art and Brooks Institute of Photography, where he graduated summa cum laude. Matthew also earned a PhD in Environmental Economics from the Bren School at U.C. Santa Barbara. Matthew has spent as many as 200 days a year in the field shooting adventure sports and wildlife. Other specialties include California Natural History, telemark skiing, gourmet coffee, and backyard astronomy.
